The LEDs say its turned on. But the computer screen is not working, any known solutions? By the way when I pull the charger off when the computer is on(but laptop screen totally blank and black as if turned off) the computer completely shuts down. I need help with some advice about a Gateway 30" display working with my 17" Macbook Pro.?

I'm looking to buy the Gateway XHD3000 30" display and was going to hook it up to my Xbox 360 and my 17" Macbook Pro. I heard that you can't take this monitor to its full potential with a laptop with sort of put me off buying it. im stumped on this one. im fairly computer savvy, but this one is giving me hell. its a gateway, not sure on model number and all that. pentium 4 blah blah kinda old i know. well, i got it from my friends house. it powered up over there and everything looked good. i drove home, set it up today, and i cant get any picture. the power light turns yellow instead of green, no display, no POST. nothing seems lose, broken, or burnt. monitor is fine, memory and video card should be fine as well. any … [Read more...]

How can I turn on a default gateway?

My desktop computer doesn't show web pages or connect to messenger & other stuff, but my laptop ( that uses the wireless network connected to my LAN) does. The Messenger troubleshooter tells me that the default gateway is offline and in Internet Properties it displays Ip address, etc, but doesn't display Default Gateway. I have a gateway 15" mt6707 laptop in otherwise perfect shape except the screen is hosed. There's large black chasms all over the screen and cracks and it's just totally destroyed. Now I've worked with desktops my whole life and would have no issue building a new one or whatever, but I'm new to laptops, and if it's technically possible for me to do (e.g. I can solder, assemble etc.), can someone tell me either how to do it myself or cheaply? How can I get rid of it????????? The danged thing cannot be closed using the mouse. The cursor moves "behind" this window. Apparently, you are supposed to use your finger and touch the screen itself. I tried that, but it isn't working. How can I minimize or eliminate this open window? It is covering 1/4 of the entire screen, and it is very annoying. Thanks for your help.
