Hey, my Toshiba laptop screen is blank when I turn it on and push the screen up, but if I just push it half way up- about 1 inch from the keyboard, it still works. How do I get my HDTV (Toshiba) to display my PC correctly?

Here's the deal: bought an HDTV: Toshiba 42HL67 (it's 720p, not 1080p). Got a DVI-to-HDMI cable to get to the TV. The TV sees the computer (PC running WIndowsXP), but will only allow me 640x480 resolution (ugh). I downloaded PowerStrip, and MonInfo. I've tried every resolution which is selectable, and only 640x480 works. Does anyone have any suggestions? My Toshiba laptop display doesn't display at 90 degree angles. What should I do?

I have a Toshiba Laptop Satellite P205-S6267. Recently I have been having display problems. The screen goes dark if the angle of the screen to the keyboard exceeds about 75 degrees. If I adjust the screen to, say, 90 degrees the screen goes dark, although I can still see (barely) that all the images are still there. The only way I can use the computer is by lying down.
